My Story
My passion for education started shortly after leaving college when I volunteered at a school in Tanzania. Seeing the difference education could make to people, in all aspects of their lives, inspired me to complete my teacher training.
After completing my degree, whilst working as a learning support assistant in a local junior school, I joined the Graduate Teacher Programme at Reading University where I gained Qualified Teacher Status in 2010.

I spent five years working as a teacher in primary education, gaining a good understanding of the building blocks which are fundamental to developing higher level skills. I loved teaching topics, bringing different subjects together with a cross-curricular approach, to make learning applicable in the world outside the classroom.

For five years, I then worked with older students with mental health difficulties, re-engaging them in education and guiding them through their GCSEs. After being out of school for sustained periods of time, either through choice or their mental health prohibiting their attendance, my role was to ensure they made accelerated progress to catch up academically. I taught a range of GCSE subjects, including Maths, Science, English and Business Studies to students with a wide range of educational needs and interests. I saw that if a student wants to learn, it is my job to facilitate that learning by making it accessible and engaging.

Each student is an individual. Through 1-1 tuition, teaching can be tailored to match their interests, pace and preferred learning style. By doing this in a supportive and bespoke way, I believe that all students are capable of achieving their potential.
